What Does the Amsler Grid Test for?
The Amsler Grid tests for retinal conditions like macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy. Each eye is tested separately. This test can easily be self-administered at home without the need for an appointment with your eye doctor.
How To Perform an Amsler Grid Test
The test consists of three simple steps:
- Cover one of your eyes.
- Focus on the black dot in the middle of the grid. You should be able to see the whole grid.
- Make a note of any distortions that you see.
